Legacy Windows local tester

Download LocalEndpoint Connect

Version 0.2.242.0 remains available for local early-access testing. It is not the new unattended RemoteEndpoints release and has not been verified compatible with that authority model.

Remote compatibility New Connect package required

Do not install 0.2.242.0 to evaluate unattended remote control. A newly built, signed, and independently qualified package must replace this legacy tester before that claim can be made.

Review risks before downloading the unsigned EXE

Know what Windows can—and cannot—verify

  • Unknown publisher warning: Windows cannot identify a verified publisher for this EXE.
  • Organization policy: Do not bypass a workplace or school policy that blocks unsigned software.
  • Checksum limit: A SHA-256 from this website can confirm file consistency, not publisher identity.
  • Early-access quality: Expect rough edges and back up important local work before testing.
  • Remote compatibility: Version 0.2.242.0 is a legacy local tester, not the new unattended RemoteEndpoints release.

What Windows may show

  • Browser or download warningThe file may be described as uncommon or unsigned. Stop if it came from anywhere other than LocalEndpoints.com.
  • Microsoft Defender SmartScreen“Windows protected your PC” or “Unknown publisher” can appear. Continue only after matching the SHA-256 and accepting the unsigned-build risk.
  • Local certificate approvalThe installer can request trust for the test certificate CN=LocalEndpoint Development. It is not a production publisher identity; cancel if the subject differs.
Managed computer?Do not use “Run anyway” to bypass a workplace or school policy. Ask the device administrator instead.
File verification

Verify the downloaded EXE

  1. Open PowerShellKeep the installer in your Downloads folder.
  2. Run this command
    Get-FileHash "$HOME\Downloads\LocalEndpoint.Connect.Setup-0.2.242.0-phase3684-beginner-first-settings-ui.exe" -Algorithm SHA256

What SHA-256 provesA match shows that your file has the same bytes as this website’s release record. It does not identify a trusted publisher, prove the software is safe, or replace production signing.
Updates and repair

Maintenance stays under your control

UpdatingThe app checks approved LocalEndpoints.com release metadata when it launches. It does not download or install an update automatically. To update, return here, review the new signing status and SHA-256, then run the newer installer and choose Update.
RepairingRun the installer again and choose Repair existing install when the current package is already present.Repair reinstalls the packaged app without requesting local-data deletion and does not launch unless you choose that option.
Current limitA production automatic-update channel is not claimed for this early-access release.
Uninstall and retained data

Choose what stays on your computer

Remove the app
Run the setup EXE again, choose Uninstall, and confirm the installed LocalEndpoint Connect package.
App data is your choice
Setup asks before deleting settings, approvals, queues, and audit data. Deletion is opt-in; keep the data if you may reinstall.
Models stay
Setup never removes downloaded model files. Remove models separately only after confirming you no longer need them.
Back up memory
Copy important .uai, .uaix, and Documents-backed wiki folders before choosing any data-deletion option.
Development certificate cleanupUninstall does not claim to remove CN=LocalEndpoint Development from the Local Machine trusted-root store. If it remains, remove only that matching test certificate from Windows certificate management after you finish testing.
